A 90 minutes ‘driving from Paris, located in the Perche Sarthois Region ( Motorway A 11 Exit n°5 ) La Ferté Bernard is happy to welcome you. The Huisne River valley is an ideal place to take a good rest. La Ferté-Bernard with 10 000 people has many shops to make your stay more comfortable. “Puff – Puff Johnny “ the little electrical train drives you free from the camping site to the town centre, 1000 meters away. La Ferté-Bernard has a nice historical heritage: Have a walk in the old town, the little narrow streets flanked by half timbered houses with their sloping roofs. The church Notre Dames des Marais stands on big oaken pillars driven into the swampy ground( hence its name: Marais (swamp in English ). Built from 1450, the church, with delicate and luminous windows, is a good example of the Gothic and Renaissance style. Walk along an old house decorated with wooden statues, then, on your right, discover the Halles Denis Béalet , built from 1477: on the ground floor used to be the market and the Town Council would meet on the first floor The timber structure of the roof is unique in our region. Further down the way ,la Porte Saint Julien (Town gate), built from 1440, protected the town surrounded by walls, some parts of them are still standing. The Tourist Office Information Centre located just in front of the Halles Denis Béalet gives you the full information you need. For more details, please click below on the relevant icon.
